Beginner golfers should start to learn with the basics. Like learning anything else, go one step at a time, progressing at your own pace. When you feel comfortable enough to know you have mastered that step, go on to the next one. Golf can be quite a challenge for someone who is just beginning the game. The body movement and muscles alone used in the game can make it challenge, but, once you have learnt the basics, the game can be a very rewarding experience which you can enjoy for years to come.  Getting a good basis of knowledge before you start playing, and with as much practice as you can fit into your lifestyle, will give you a solid foundation for improving as you progress and time goes on.

Your Golf Grip -  Take the golf club in the palm of your lead hand–the hand that’s closest to the hole. You’ll want your thumb to run along the top of the grip going down. Slide your back hand, the hand that’s farthest away from the hole, just below your lead hand, now interlocking the back hand little pinkie finger with the lead hand pointer finger. The back hand thumb should also run down the front of the grip, just below the lead hand thumb.
Your Posture and Approach -Comfort is one of the most important things about how you stand in front of the ball, also called the approach. The basics are slightly bent knees, the upper body leaning over the ball, but not hunched over the ball, arms out in front of you, but not overly extended either. Your feet should be shoulder width apart and comfortable at this, and for a beginner, the ball should be positioned so that there is equal distance between the front and back foot. To figure out if you’re lined up correctly, take a 7 iron and run the shaft from your lead foot toe to your back foot toe. The club will point to where you are hitting the ball. Now you can take the club and put the club head behind the ball. It should come up at about a 45-degree angle and fit naturally and comfortably in your hands. Remember – comfort!
The Golf Swing – The three critically important steps to the golf swing are the take away, the impact and the follow through or finish. Each one is key to making solid contact and hitting the ball correctly. With your grip and approach worked out, all thats left is to hit the ball. right?. As a beginner, it’s best to try to keep your feet firmly on the ground during take away and impact. The head and upper body should remain quite still. You should look at where the ball is through the follow through. Now, as you bring the club back, try to keep your lead arm as straight as possible, rotating your hips and transitioning with your weight onto your back foot. As you come down for impacting the ball, your hips should begin a forward rotation while your weight should shift onto your lead foot at this point. Keep your eye on the ball as you make contact and allow your hips to continue rotating. By the end of your swing, your upper body should be facing towards the hole.
